Early Learning Centre Year 4 (November 2013)

Students from ELC traced the journey made by Chinese immigrants at the start of the Ratanakosin Period when they left Southern China to escape famine, embarking on a dangerous sea voyage and arriving at Sampeng on the banks of the Chao Phraya River to start their new lives.

Students enjoyed a street bingo as they walked along Yaowarat and were entertained by an energetic lion dance before sampling dim sum for lunch. The day in China Town helped the class to understand the development of this vibrant area of the city and allowed the Barge Program to develop its 'History of Bangkok' curriculum.
