The University of Melbourne
As part of Traidhos Three-Generation Community of Learning's partnership with Melbourne Graduate School of Education, a group of graduate student teachers joined the Barge to see education for sustainability in action.
Using a river observation as a platform for discussion, the group explored issues surrounding flooding, policy, changing demographics along the river and tourism. As prolonged rain caused dams along the Chao Phraya to release some of their waters, the group experienced the impact of flooding first-hand as they explored the island community of Ko Kret.
Participants reflected on their day on the River of Kings as follows:
I want to thank the Barge staff members for a great day in Bangkok. My students were elated, not only by the trip, but by the marvellous walk through the flooded village - something we certainly weren’t expecting but were so glad to have done!
- Glenn Savage, Research Fellow in Education Policy
I had such an amazing time and it was definitely the highlight of our stay in the city.
