Each year we welcome over 2,500 students and staff from schools worldwide.
2-4 November 2016
Bromsgrove Year 5 trip objectives included a week of exploration in Ayutthaya and team building, and that’s exactly what they got! By the end of the week the group was working as a well-oiled machine: communicating, sharing and being inclusive.
The first half of the trip focused on the exploration of Ayutthaya. We visited the temples of Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, Wat Chai Wattanaram and stayed in accommodation at Wat Kasattrathirat. We learnt about the Kingdom of Ayutthaya, its rise and fall and its interaction with the Burmese people.
The second half of the trip looked at the Chao Phraya watershed, studying its influence over Ayutthaya and the rest of Thailand, and our influence over the water quality. The children undertook both theoretical and scientific study of the river and came away with a comprehensive understanding of its importance to us and of how they can contribute towards the betterment of the Chao Phraya.
The Year 5 students thoroughly enjoyed the mix of historical, environmental and team work learning. On the last night the children led an activity called Historical Role plays, each team’s act was insightful and dynamic. It illustrated how much they had really learnt, while the response from their peers showed the respect and enjoyment that had built throughout the week.
