River and Khao Yai

We first spotted them at the airport - fourteen scouts proudly wearing their uniform complete with neckerchief. Together we embarked on an amazing journey, first along the Chao Phraya River and to Ayutthaya and Ko Kret and then to Khao Yai National Park.

The students embraced life on the barge- keenly chopping and cooking and cleaning the boat. They challenged themselves to communicate with Thai students during a school visit, worked hard to refuse plastic bags and to shower in three minutes.
In the forest, we were amazed to find evidence of jack fruit in the elephant dung and celebrated our luck at seeing elephants, porcupine and deer during night drive.

At Haew Suwat waterfall, students created simple haiku to express their observations:

Falling down the rock
The water is very clean
It is fantastic

It is very high
The water splashes the rocks
I love, love, love it

There are many trees
I love Khao Yai National Park
The water is clean

All to soon the week drew to a close with hugs and tears as the group departed to Shanghai. Back in their uniforms and neckers but now confident that they could thrive in a new environment without their parents and with happy memories of a week in Thailand.
