Each year we welcome over 2,500 students and staff from schools worldwide.
8-9 March, 2018
Students from SISB campuses around Bangkok joined the Traidhos Barge Program to experience Thai traditional lifestyles and to consider the impacts these practices have on the environment.
Students challenged themselves to enter the muddy rice paddy to plough with the buffalo and to plant rice - just as many of their grandparents had grown up doing and then followed the rice from the field to the table. They considered the central role that rice plays in the Asian diet and the benefits of traditional farming techniques.
Students had a second muddy experience harvesting water chestnuts, the famous product from Suphanburi and enjoyed using the chestnuts to make tasty tub tim krob.
The residential field trip was rounded off by using natural dyes to create tie dyed cloth, making traditional palm leaf fish and playing a range of traditional Thai games.
